About the Organization

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an autonomous natural resource service institution established in 1982 under the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Government of India.[1] WII carries out wildlife research in areas of study like Biodiversity, Endangered Species, Wildlife Policy, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Forensics, Spatial Modeling, Ecodevelopment, Ecotoxicology, Habitat Ecology and Climate Change. WII has a research facility which includes Forensics, Remote Sensing and GIS, Laboratory, Herbarium, and an Electronic Library.

Job Description

Conduct monitoring of wildlife underpasses and overpasses using camera trapping, sign surveys and other field techniques. Undertake misc. field activities as required in the project. Candidates will also be required to analyze the data and write reports.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

Essential Qualification:

Masters’s Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Candidate(s) with prior experience in camera trapping, sign surveys, distance sapling and vegetation surveys will be preferred. GIS, GPS, statistical analysis, and report writing knowledge is desirable. Should be able to undertake arduous field work in human dominated landscape of Maharashtra as well as forests.
  • Candidates with a Masters’ Degree in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Genetics/ Molecular Biology/ Veterinary Sciences and/or who are pursuing or have completed their PhD need not apply for this post.

Salary

Rs. 31,000 + HRA
