About the Project:

This project is a collaborative project being executed under the auspices of an agreement between Shri Sangini Mahila Balsewa Sahkari Mandli Limited (hereby referred to as “Sangini”)-SEWA and Sangath for strengthening mental health care services for the members of Sangini-SEWA. The project aims for SANGATH to provide leadership, mentorship, training and guidance for planning and implementing mental health services for women (and their communities) who are members and partners of Sangini-SEWA so as to cope with the mental health and psychosocial issues and enable them psychologically to rebuild their belief in themselves. As part of the project, a recruited Sangath staff member will be embedded in the Sangini-SEWA office in Ahmedabad and working under the guidance of the technical team at Sangath Bhopal hub to take the lead in ensuring overall health and well-being of women, adolescents and children in the Sangini-SEWA network with a focus on mental health.

Job profile:

• Assist with Sangini-SEWA’s mental health programmes

• Developing Monitoring and Supervision mechanisms for mental health programmes

• Develop training modules on mental health and conducted regular training

• Developing health and management information system for mental health programme

• Developing the capacity of community health workers on screening, delivering psychosocial care and appropriate referrals

• Assist Sangini-SEWA’s team in planning and implementing community-level awareness activities

• Developing IEC (digital and print) materials for the mental health programme

• Establishing referral linkages for mental health services with private and government health facilities or professionals

• Conducting regular supervision sessions for community health workers

• To ensure the quality of the mental health services delivered by community health workers

• Regular field visits and meetings with stakeholders

• Assist the Sangini-SEWA team in designing, developing and implementing of mental health programme

• Assisting in the documentation of mental health activities (reports, case studies, narratives etc.)

• Assisting in developing proposals

• Report to and receive mentorship and guidance from the programmatic leads at Sangath and Sangini-SEWA

• Other tasks as and when assigned by the program leads.

Requirement/Eligibility

• Masters level education in psychology, or psychiatric social work

• Experience of 3-4 years in counselling, training, supervision and project coordination/management development sector, and experience in public health research/implementation projects will be an added value.

• Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing Gujarati and English (Hindi would be desirable)

• Experience in working with communities, womens’ collectives, community health workers and with Public Health systems such as in PHCs/CHCs/District Hospitals.

• Willingness to be based on, or relocate to, Gujarat (position is Ahmedabad based).

Desirable characteristics:

• Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams

• Experience in developing training modules, conducting supervision sessions, and providing counselling for mental health conditions in community settings.

Remuneration: As per Sangath salary scales
