Started in 1999, Dream a Dream is a registered, charitable trust empowering young people from vulnerable backgrounds to overcome adversity and flourish in a fast-changing world using a creative Life skills approach. At Dream a Dream, we believe it is critical to empower young people with Life Skills to overcome these gaps in the education system. Dream a Dream has scaled its Life Skills Model to provide teachers and youth workers, the skills and tools necessary to develop Life skills in young people from vulnerable backgrounds and integrate this within their work domain.   

Position summary 

Dream A Dream is working with different state governments to embed social emotional learning (SEL) in their respective education systems. We work with the government systems to develop the curriculum, create training frameworks and digital courses and facilitate sessions on SEL. We are looking for a passionate individual who has strong experience in designing SEL programs and sessions. The individual will work on creating designs and content for SEL workshops as well as facilitating these workshops for the relevant stakeholders. The role will be initially on a contract for six months and can be later converted into a full-time position based on the requirement.

Roles and responsibilities (include scope, accountability, goals to be achieved by the role, people management):  

  • Create designs for the workshops and sessions on social-emotional learning/Life Skills
  • Develop content for the training courses and workshops on social-emotional learning/Life Skills.
  • Facilitate and deliver workshops and sessions for relevant stakeholders through online and offline platforms.
  • Anchor in the areas of Curriculum Development, Training and Facilitation.
  • Coordinate with the internal teams to create different types of SEL and life-skills based content.
  • Participate in learning and debrief sessions, to enhance the quality of delivery of the Dream A Dream’s workshops.
  • Understand impact assessment of the workshops and improve the quality of trainings.
  • Coordinate with and support the external stakeholders (NGOs, research agencies and Government) to build a life skills focused approach in their work.  
  • Become a life skills expert; champion and advocate for deepening the understanding of life skills in the education system. 
  • Provide support to the internal teams in research and M&E work as well as build an ecosystem premised on a life skills approach. 
  • Work with teams to create tools for need analysis, classroom observations, data collections.

  • Contribute to the achievement of strategic and operational goals set by the organization. 

Desired qualifications, skills and abilities  

  • 8 years of work experience in facilitation and designing content for the workshops in development/education sector. 
  • Prior engagement with young people and experience in education, skills or training-facilitation space is highly recommended.  
  • Strong spoken communication and articulation skills. Fluency in English and Hindi, and other Indian languages is a definite plus.   
  • Expertise in project management along with Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, ability to analyse complex qualitative and quantitative data, craft possible solutions and recommend actions.  
  • Field level understanding and exposure of government interaction along with managing Government projects.  
  • Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to travel to different parts of the country (towns and villages) at a short notice, in the post-Covid era. The workshops happen across the country in different geographies.  

General Responsibilities   

  • Develop linkages with national and local media actors and with policy institutions  
  • Contribute to the achievement of strategic goals set by the organization  
  • Participate in strategic planning, annual planning, and budgeting process for the organization  
  • Develop strategies to keep team members engaged in outreach efforts  
  • Working with a small team, you would also be required to multitask between roles, as and when required by the organization for the furtherance of its goals.
