We are looking for a Senior Manager – Communications to develop, plan and manage marketing activities with various departments and stakeholders so as to enhance the Pratham Books brand. They will oversee all operational requirements with the team. We are looking for someone who has an understanding of what children need to read as well as the Indian milieu, being up to date with new trends and effective ways of brand building and media coverage. The person will also need to identify and tap opportunities for brand building and improvise constantly.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop and present our brand memorably
– Build thought leadership in the area of reading/ literacy
– Manage the internal communications of the organisation
– Disseminate external communications through multiple media channels (digital, print and broadcast)
– Communicate and connect with multiple stakeholders – external, like creators, publishers, children, parents, schools, other non-profits, social enterprises and governments; as well as internal stakeholders, meaning functional heads
– Plan and execute research projects
– Plan and execute marketing campaigns for Pratham Books as well as all the sub-brands
– Enhance brand’s offline presence at on ground events through marketing collaterals and activation
– Develop and maintain media relations
– Support in the organisation’s advocacy and outreach activities
– Lead all corporate communications for the Pratham Books and Donate-a-Book brands
– Provide strategic and creative support for Sales
– Effectively explore new media avenues and collaborations to further the mission
– Oversee all distributed communications to ensure consistent brand messaging and coordinated organisational direction
– Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to align department strategies with mission delivery
– Manage a team of Graphic Designer, Marketing Manager, Communication Executive, Interns and Volunteers, etc. to ensure completion of responsibilities and projects
Required skills and experience:
– Bachelors/Masters degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field
– Minimum 8+ years of prior work experience in the concerned domain
– Strong written communication skills with a keen understanding of how to write to and connect with different audiences
– Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of accuracy and manage sensitive information
– Results- driven with proven success leading and managing projects
– Excellent organisational, communication, interpersonal and time management skills
– Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, is self- motivated and proactive
– Experienced with social media, email platforms, and Microsoft Office applications
– Engaged with books and reading
Nice to have but not mandatory:
– Prior experience in children’s book publishing or the social sector will be an advantage
