Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Learning and Innovation primarily responsible for leadership and assistance with the strategic and tactical execution on all work related to implementing Room to Read’s various programs. The Senior Manager, Learning and Innovation will also be instrumental in coordinating with other departments at CO and GO level. The incumbent will develop skills and plan projects that utilize innovative approaches to learning and foster active learning environments. The position will report directly to the Country Director.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

1) Develop a good understanding of all RtR programs, their inter-linkages in view of the convergence, including GEP

2) Analyze govt policies, sector trends, donor interest areas and present the same to CMT, Programs and Ops

3) Responsible for overseeing all knowledge-related activities, including the management, capturing, sharing and accessibility of knowledge assets

4) Identify potential collaborators and competitors and determine comparative advantage vis a vis competitor

5) With a focus on innovation in education, research and assess current trends in collaboration Specific learnings with respect to custom projects

6) Develop organization learning documents/reports in collaboration with Prog, Operations and RM&E Department

7) Work collaboratively to design and make preparations for an learning intervention that will address the needs identified of RtR.

8) Collaborate with the government to build support for early grade reading, life skills, library, in general and the RtR approach.

9) Build excellent relationships with and alignment NGOs and other organizations with similar agenda as RtR

10) Identify areas and ideas for innovation, both programmatic and operational

11) Generate interdepartmental support and funding options for such innovations

12) Promote cross collaboration and integration between horizontal and verticals etc

13) Focus on Organizational Effectiveness, Lead/manage GO initiated strategic initiatives/ projects.

14) Identifying instructional methods and innovative technologies for assessing, differentiating instruction, providing rigorous, relevant and engaging learning experiences

15) Stay informed about trends in the fields of Education (early grade literacy, girl education and life skills, and Library) and use this information to assess and inform Room to Read’s Literacy program

Qualifications:

  • Master’s in education / social sciences / Social Work or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of various programs and organizations in the field of early grade reading/literacy in India and abroad.
  • Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills, including skills of managing and mentoring people
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge/ training in linguistics will be an added advantage
