Job Description

Under the MNCH Project, Jhpiego is hiring SPO (MNH) based at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The position will be responsible for providing technical and functional support in respective districts towards high quality MNCH services. S/he will work closely with the government officials, stakeholders, and district teams to ensure effective implementation of MNCH Projects in Madhya Pradesh and border districts of Maharashtra. The position will report to Program Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Implementation support for MNCH programs

  • Provide technical input and support the design and implementation of all MNCH project activities to achieve desired results.
  • Initiate, build, and strengthen relationships with various stakeholders in the state to achieve MNCH program objectives.
  • Work in coordination with program stakeholders such as State and District officials, partner organizations, representatives of state and district level professional associations (e.g., FOGSI, IMA, IAP) to develop, implement, monitor, and report on MNCH program activities including work plans, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E (Monitoring & Evaluation)) framework and reports.
  • Travel to the program intervention districts (in MP and Maharashtra) to support implementation and monitoring as needed.

Technical support

  • Provide State level technical support to the Maternal Health and Child Health divisions and district clinical and administrative teams for implementing quality improvement processes and systems as per the program strategy.
  • Provide support and in organizing clinical training, workshops, and on-site coaching in the intervention districts. This would also include planning training schedules, identifying trainers, monitoring training, and conducting post-training follow-up visits to the districts.
  • Assist in the development of training materials, performance standards and job aids to support the strengthening of maternity services in the State.

Data for action

  • Establish systems for tracking progress, indicators, and deliverables according to agreed work plans and prepare program reports for department officials.
  • In collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation team, generate evidence for appropriate revision to workplans and program activities.

Program Management support:

  • Work with team members to develop and produce learning resource packages, documents, reports, proposals, and presentations according to program and Jhpiego / government guidelines for internal and external dissemination.

IEC

  • Support the Communications team of Jhpiego and department in drafting IEC materials, success stories and facts in consultation with the program team members. Support documentation of project results, successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • MBBS/BAMS/Nursing graduate with Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Public Health/Pediatrics/Obstetrics.
  • 5-7 years of experience of working with public health programs, especially in Reproductive and
  • Child Health and managing program implementation, is desirable. Specific experience in large programs related to maternal & newborn health/ childbirth care/ quality of care will be preferred.
  • Experience of working with the National Health Mission at the project or State level is desirable.
  • Experience of conducting training, managing programs, and providing clinical support to public health workers.
  • Good knowledge of the health sector and maternal and child health programs is essential.
  • Technical knowledge and field experience in health programs in maternal and newborn health.
  • Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders, and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Rural Health Mission would be advantageous.

Abilities/Skills:

  • Experience and demonstrated ability in working with government’s Reproductive Health and Child Health programs, counterparts, and systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi, familiarity with Marathi would be added advantage.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders and other organizations including government counterparts.
  • Ability to work within a consortium and communicate regularly with a variety of team members in multiple locations.
  • Technically proficient with skills required for the assigned task.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documents such as training materials and reports.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders, and other organizations.
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a multi-cultural team.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel extensively up to 50–60% of his/her time.
