Background: 

CARE is initiating the project in 8 selected mandals of Andhra Pradesh with a goal to improve the health status among the people living in the project area by providing accessibility of quality comprehensive Primary health and nutrition care at public health facilities and at the community level. 

The approach is to enhance effective delivery of Public Health Progress by supplementing Government system efforts on ground in select geographies. 

Key Objectives include: 

  • Improving the quality of service provisioning under Comprehensive Primary Health Care in select facilities in the project area 
  • Improving the coverage and access of health and nutrition services through – strengthening service delivery mechanism at the village level 
  • Engaging community based organizations, community representatives, civil societies to drive health & nutrition seeking behaviors and building and testing a community governance model 
  • Innovate by leveraging information communication technologies in improving the processes 

The program aims for comprehensive health & nutrition outcomes in the selected mandals and will be coordinated by a central team led by state program manager, with constant engagement with government officials at state, district and mandal levels. Concurrent Monitoring and Measurement (CMM) plan has been designed to ensure the effective   progress of the project in accordance with the stated objectives, outputs, outcomes (impacts) and within an agreed timescale. 

 Job Summary 

The communication officer will be part of the state team and will be responsible for all IEC/BCC, communications, and media related responsibilities of the project.  

Contact/Key Relationships 

Communication officer will closely work with the State Program Manager and state/district administration for media and communication related activities. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan in collaboration with the leadership team. 
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on target audience. 
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required. 
  • Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and company website. 
  • Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time 
  • Manage all media contacts and media agencies working for company 

Qualification & Experience 

Essential: 

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field. 
  • Fluency in English and Telugu. 
  • Basic knowledge of Hindi. 

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree in mass media or communications. 
  • Experience and knowledge in public health or development sector. 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools) 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms. 
  • Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and/or HTML preferred 
  • This is an individual contributor role and candidates are expected to work in a high paced environment. 
  • Good time management and organizational skills. 
  • The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Telugu and English. 
  • Experience managing and executing across several communications media.
