Job Opportunity for Technology Associate – Speech Recognition at IT for Change in Bengaluru

Job Profile

We are looking for an experienced AI speech recognition specialist to join our education technology team. As part of the team, you will contribute your efforts towards building a free and open source AI-driven software application for language learning as a digital public good. As a member of a small team, you will wear many hats and your responsibilities will include, among others

• collaborating with the language educators in the team to refine use cases and flesh out feature details
• devising and implementing mechanisms for voice data collection at scale
• performing data cleansing and other preprocessing as necessary, selecting algorithms, training ML models and iteratively improving the process until satisfactory performance is achieved
• supporting the deployment of the model(s) within the public schooling system in India. This will include optimizing models for execution in resource-constrained offline environments such as classroom workstations and tablets that may not have internet connectivity.
• maintaining and improving the model(s)

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience designing and developing speech recognition based AI applications, possess foundational knowledge in speech processing and have hands-on expertise in automated speech recognition (ASR) technologies, learning algorithms and architectures.

Note that the project will not use any proprietary, commercial / closed source platforms. So you are discouraged from applying if your only expertise is in the use of proprietary, point-and-click model generation platforms.
