About the team

Pratham Early Years team has decades of experience working with community partners and state governments to develop and deliver solutions targeting holistic development of children of age group 3 to 8 (i.e. children across preschool and grades 1-2). Solutions include designing curriculum and material, training resource groups, supporting on-site monitoring, providing measurement support and, most importantly, assisting state governments with evidence-based decision making for policy and practices.

Roles & Responsibilities

Policymakers globally have increasingly recognized the importance of Early Years Education. With the National Education Policy 2020 in place, the central and state governments have thrown their full weight behind providing effective early years education across the country. Given this context, it is crucial to review policies for Early Years and inform decision making through evidence. The Senior Policy Research Associate will help Pratham with this effort of evidence based decision making for policy and practice. The responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing policy documents and driving policy discussions with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including content, measurement, and program teams at Pratham
  • Designing frameworks to understand the impact of practices followed for Early Years Education, implementing these frameworks on ground with the help of program team, analyzing data and reporting findings to teams
  • Analyzing available data- data which Pratham has collected over time and other data which is available in the public domain- for Early Years Education and reporting findings
  • Leading policy and planning discussions with political and technical officials of government to devise strategy for Early Years programs
  • Articulating Pratham’s position on policy, evidence, and practices for Early Years Education in position papers, case studies and articles

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in any field ( Economics, Math, Stats is preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a policy and/or data centric role
  • Thorough understanding of data analysis using MS Excel (must have). Additional knowledge of Statistical modelling, Tableau will be preferred.
  • Ability to create compelling presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills & logical abilities to breakdown problems and find solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Willing to travel in case of internal and external meetings

Location: New Delhi (currently WfH)
