Job Description
The Finance Manager in India is a new role that is being established as a result of the rapid growth of AVPN’s programme portfolio and the resulting need for a dedicated role to manage finances for the Indian entity, including some aspects of grant management. The Finance Manager will report to the CEO of AVPN India Foundation. The role holder will coordinate with all the employees of the foundation and ensure that all income and expenses are correctly accrued and recorded. The role holder will also collaborate with the HQ finance team to implement relevant processes and procedures. The role holder along with the CEO will be responsible for the governance, compliance, and overall management of the entity. This role can be flexible and envisioned as a part-time role i.e 2 or 3 days a week depending on the seniority and experience of the candidate. The role holder will ideally be based in Mumbai, India but this is not a binding condition.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ROC related compliances and ensure that all statutory filings are done accurately and on time
- Ensure board meetings and annual general meetings are conducted in a timely manner with proper notice, agenda, and minutes of the meeting duly noted and circulated
- Ensure all statutory registrations are current and renewed on a timely basis
- Ensure proper accounting is done through in-house team or outsourced partners and have the accounts audited with a clean audit report
- Be responsible for all taxation related matters, both direct and indirect taxes, including calculations, reconciliations, filing of monthly, quarterly or annual return as appropriate.
- Follow-up with membership, partnership or programmes teams to ensure invoices are generated accurately and timely and funds are received
- Approve payments to vendors, reimbursement to employees and monthly payroll
- Support the Foundation CEO and HQ Finance team to develop annual budget and monitor variances on a monthly basis
- Generate relevant MIS on a monthly basis or as required by the management
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience or BCom with 10-12 years of experience managing finance department of a small to mid-size organisation
- Strong accounting, financial management and data analysis skills
- Understanding of laws governing non-profit organizations (section 8 company) in India
- General curiosity, entrepreneurial mindset and proactive, independent practice
- Strong written and spoken English
- Proficient with MS Office, Tally.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to large and small groups
- Willingness to learn and adapt amid new and shifting priorities with a ‘can-do,’ solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
