Job Opportunity for Philanthropy Advisor at AIP in Mumbai/Bengaluru

Website Accelerate Indian Philanthropy

Job Title

Philanthropy Advisor (PA), Mumbai/ Bangalore, Accelerate Indian Philanthropy (AIP)

About Accelerate Indian Philanthropy (AIP)

AIP aims to be India’s leading organization for spurring private philanthropy to meet India’s development challenges.

India has seen a rapid rise in average wealth over the last decade, but strategic philanthropic giving lags far behind in comparison. The majority of philanthropists still face significant headwinds when giving strategically, such as giving towards the end of their life, giving being a small portion of their total wealth, and difficulty in finding trusted philanthropic advisors to help them navigate sectors and organizations. Right now India is going through a transition similar to the United States in the late 19th/early 20th century which saw tremendous wealth creation.

AIP will work with philanthropists to give more, give sooner, and give better. AIP aims to educate and enable philanthropic capital in India, and from Indians around the world, in order to significantly improve the quantum and quality of giving. We aim to build an organization that contributes to development in India at a large scale, and fundamentally transforms the giving landscape.

Position Summary

The Philanthropy Advisor will advise senior philanthropists on how to give more, give sooner, and give better. The person will build personal relationships with potential philanthropists, understand their profile, motivation and ambition for giving, and work with them to devise their giving strategy. This is a unique opportunity to unlock catalytic philanthropic giving in India.

S/he will also shape (along with the CEO) the strategic direction of the organization, including its values, mission, vision, and overall strategy.

  • Instill an entrepreneurial culture and mindset for the organization and take an iterative approach to advising on strategic philanthropy.
  • Build and lead the advisory practice.
  • Identify and partner with philanthropists, wealth managers, foundations, and other organizations to embed the organization in the ecosystem.
