India Leaders for Social Sector (ILSS) is a non-profit that aims to be India’s preeminent leadership development organization for the social sector. We aim to increase the effectiveness of the top 500 nonprofits in the sector by 2x to create catalytic impact at scale.

Overview

To achieve the mission, ILSS has a three-pronged approach:

● Bringing corporate talent into leadership and board positions in the social sector

● Running well-researched capacity building programs in critical domains for the social sector

● Building the social sector ecosystem to instill a strong focus on high-quality talent / talent development

Since 2017, ILSS has run successful programs like:

● Flagship Leadership Program with 13 editions (across in-person and online), designed to enable senior leaders from various sectors to learn about the social sector and become part of it. The program currently has 240+ Alumni, out of which 110+ have already transitioned to the social sector

● A Board Program for CXOs in the corporate sector to serve as board members for nonprofits in the social sector. The first edition had 18 senior leaders participate

● A Fundraising Program with over 145 current Alumni who are leaders responsible for resource mobilization in their respective organization

● A People Practices Program which has completed its first pilot online and is gearing up for the second one in person

Position Summary

ILSS is looking for an Associate Director who will be a part of the Leadership Team. and lead mission-critical capacity building projects. It is an exciting role that covers strategy, program design and management, building teams and stakeholder management.

A unique opportunity to work with leaders from both the corporate and social sector on capacity building, Ideal candidate will be someone highly motivated, entrepreneurial and deeply passionate about Capacity Building in and for India’s social sector.

Roles & responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Associate Director include but are not limited to the following:-

Program Strategy and Design –

● Lead on the design and implementation of high quality capacity building programs, right from ideation, research, program design, pilot study and stabilizing the program

● Monitor the progress of the plan proactively, and, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action where necessary

● Identifying and building partnerships with individuals and organizations for building & scaling of the program/s

Program Implementation –

● Create systems for program implementation that covers day to day running of the program across learning, engagement and cohort building

● Collaborate with faculty on the content implementation, including co-creating the content with faculty where there is a need

● Design and oversee impact metrics for programs aligned to overall frameworks, both for the short term and long term

● Curate and lead on implementing learning events such as conferences and round tables centered around the Program

Stakeholder management –

Develop and strengthen relationships with Internal Stakeholders:

○ Coach members of the program team on supporting with the design and implementation of program/s

○ Collaborate with the Outreach Teams on Selection and Outreach including Communication

Develop and strengthen relationships with External Stakeholders:

○ Lead on faculty engagement, including onboarding new faculty.

○ Interact closely with Alumni of the program for both continuous learning and strengthening the ecosystem

Required qualifications, skills and abilities

● 8+ years of overall experience, with at least 2-3 years in capacity building

● Proficiency in leading adult learning across media and contexts

Location

Ideally, Gurugram (Delhi NCR), open to locations for the right candidate

Compensation

Depending on the candidate’s experience, ILSS offers compensation on par with Indian philanthropy pay scales, and the range for this role is Rs. 14-20 lakhs based on experience.
