Job Opportunity for Associate Fellow – Climate Change and Sustainability at CSEP in New Delhi

The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) is seeking to expand its team in the space of Climate Change and Sustainability.  We are looking at economists at the Associate Fellow level (5+ years of experience) with interest in economic policies associated with climate change, transition and sustainability. Candidates with (a) deep interest in climate change and sustainability policies, (b) good publications record in any field of quantitative economics, and (c) an understanding of Indian institutions and policymaking should apply.  Past work on climate change and sustainability is not a precondition.  The Fellow will be reporting to the Senior Fellow overseeing climate change and sustainability related studies at CSEP.

CSEP is based in New Delhi and registered as a company limited by shares and not for profit, under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 1956 (now Section 8 of Companies Act, 2013).

Key Requisites

The Associate Fellow is expected to have a PhD in economics from a globally recognized institute. They would have good publications record with robust empirical and policy-oriented research.  The candidate must have demonstrated research in a wide expanse of areas and demonstrated ability to work on diverse topics.  Currently the team members are working on impact of climate change on agriculture, fiscal issues in energy transition, impact of carbon tax, climate finance, input output analysis, etc.

The specific areas of expertise include econometrics and data/statistical analysis, institutional analysis, and policy orientation.   The researcher would need to be highly conversant with econometric and data analysis software such as Stata, Python, R etc.  Excellent writing skills, and the ability to tease out insights from disparate, diverse, or unstructured data.

Responsibilities

The Associate Fellow would be expected to contribute in conceptualizing and conducting studies, and undertake them both independently and with other team members.  They would also be expected to interact with diverse group of stakeholders including but not limited to government departments, trade associations, academia, think tanks.  Good verbal and presentation skills would be critical for the role as well as ability to communicate and engage both nationally and internationally.
