Position Objective:

To execute nationwide outreach using PETA India’s robotic animal prop in schools to teach young students about the importance of being kind to animals

Associate Director of Education and Youth Outreach

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Build and maintain a database of schools across the country
  • Coordinate with schools to secure dates to perform outreach presentations using the prop
  • Prepare and execute plans for extensive school tours across the country
  • Travel extensively to schools across the country to conduct presentations using prop
  • Conduct presentations successfully
  • Develop a good rapport with schools to ensure future engagements and encourage more animal protection–related activity
  • Recruit and maintain a database of volunteers to help with the project
  • Train and coordinate with volunteers, including on their schedules to conduct school presentations
  • Coordinate with company providing technical and travel support for school tours
  • Coordinate with the administrative and finance department of PETA India to arrange travel and accommodation for all involved in tours (including members of the company as mentioned above)
  • Work with relevant PETA India team members to coordinate promotion of events through media releases and online promotions
  • Suitably prepare for and give interviews to the media, upon request
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field and/or proven experience with schools
  • Fluency in English and Hindi
  • Public speaking experience and strong presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively and independently
  • Knowledge of other local Indian languages a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
  • Knowledge of and interest in the Indian education system
  • Proven excellent relationship-building skills and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation and the ability to focus on both team and individual goals
  • Proven exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement
  • Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
