About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust (IHAT) aims at improving public health initiatives by supporting programs nationally and globally through providing comprehensive technical assistance in program planning, management and monitoring. Pursuant to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the GoUP and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, IHAT set up a Technical Support Unit (TSU) in 2013 to provide techno-managerial support to the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) to improve utilization, coverage and quality of key reproductive, maternal, new-born, child health and nutrition (RMNCHN) interventions and services in the state. The TSU has been set up from the funding support of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) through the University of Manitoba (UOM), Canada.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. As part of its’ support ot GoUP, UPTSU is conducting two implementation research studies. The overall aim of the study is to assess the feasibility and identify operational pathways for the implementation of Ferric Carboxy Maltose (FCM) among severe and moderately anaemic pregnant women in secondary-level facilities of selected districts in UP, and understand the effect of single-dose FCM in improving HB levels among postpartum women with moderate and severe anaemia in selected hospitals in Lucknow, UP.

Job Summary :

This position is envisaged to play a role of overall in-charge for managing all the study activities of the assigned facility on a day-to-day basis. The individual will provide continuous support to the clinical aspects of the study and collaborate closely with the study team including state consultant. S/he will provide handholding and mentoring support to the providers at the facility, ensuring smooth implementation of various project activities in providing the FCM to the eligible pregnant postpartum women.

Note:

Position Type: Long term contractual consultant for 6-9 months. However, may be extended as per the then need.

Key Responsibilities:

Key deliverables expected from the Job Role

  • Must have convincing and reasoning skills to perform the job.
  • Work closely with Government counterparts and provide support to the facility staff of concerned District Hospital and CHC FRU in screening of women to identify the anaemia and administration of FCM to the eligible PWs.
  • Communicate clearly and help women understand the importance of FCM treatment.
  • Assist eligible pregnant women throughout the FCM administration process.
  • Interact with the PWs to keep the track of reasons for not visiting the facility for FCM administration and reasons for refusing to take the FCM dose.
  • Ensuring that the study is conducted in accordance with the approved protocols, regulatory guidelines, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure the proper documentation as per the study plan
  • Ensure that all study-related documentation, such as study protocols, consent forms, case report forms (CRFs), and other regulatory documents are maintained in the study facilities.
  • Coordinate and support in regular meetings to discuss study progress and address any issues or concerns.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Line manager/ organization.

  • Reporting and updating data regularly as per the study need
  • Participating in review-feedback and analysis meetings

  • Expected to stay as close to the facility.

Work Experience:

Essential experience:

  • Exposure to the development sector particularly in facility and MNCH
  • Knowledge of different components related to ANC services and anaemia management among pregnant and postpartum women.
  • Knowledge in data collection/experience in hospital and healthcare setup with computer, mobile and tablet savvy will be added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in the team
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Preferred experience:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with sound experience in the similar facility level studies
    Understanding of research ethics

Education:

Required Qualification:

  • Sc. Nursing from recognized and reputed university/institute.
  • GNM from recognized and reputed university with experience in Hospital setting/Facility survey.

Preferred Qualification

  • Higher qualified candidates may be given preference
