Founded in 2012, Central Square Foundation is a non-profit organisation working to ensure quality school education access to all children in India. We are driven by our mission to transform the school education system with a focus on improving the learning outcomes of children, especially from low-income communities. Achieving foundational literacy and numeracy skills by Class 3 is essential for better learning outcomes for all children in school, and we have been working relentlessly to make this happen. We believe in leveraging technology to improve foundational learning in primary classes and provide remediation support in upper primary and middle school. We also work towards creating a more enabling environment for affordable private schools so they can prioritise improved learning. In order to achieve this, we partner with individuals and social impact organisations to bring innovative solutions in education, as well as support the government in driving systemic impact. We collaborate with the ecosystem to leverage knowledge, build evidence and create proven tools around critical issues such as early learning, EdTech, classroom instruction methods and governance.

Position Summary

The Director Human Resources is a key member of the Leadership team at Central Square Foundation and oversees all aspects of Human Resources, people practices and operations in order to support and drive goals, objectives and evolving needs of the foundation. The incumbent should understand the context and nuances of working in a non-profit and should be flexible and adaptable in their approach to be able to problem solve for the foundation keeping the context in mind. The role holder will also play the role of mentor who is tasked with facilitating strategic planning and initiatives, culture and change management and organisation design. The role requires an entrepreneurial individual with high levels of self-motivation to build systems and processes to take CSF to the next level in human resources planning and execution. The person should be able to create an HR vision, drive the strategy and guide the team towards shared objectives, encourage a culture around our core values. The HR team is currently 3 members strong, and the person will be required to lead, build and nurture an effective team, manage the HR function to effectively deliver against the targets and deliverables. The role reports to the CEO and Managing Director

Key Areas of Responsibility

● Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the Central Square Foundation’s mission and strategic vision.

● Create and facilitate organisation steps in partnership with Leadership to sustain a positive organisational culture.

● Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall organisation’s operation objectives.

● Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each vertical regarding key organisational and management issues.

● Work with the executive management team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the organisation.

● Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the goals.

● Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.

● Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development and compensation and benefits.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

● Master’s degree in Management with specialisation in Human Resources Management Organisational Development.

● 15 to 20 years of work experience with at least 8 years in a leadership position in a value driven organisation / institution preferably working as a HR Business Partner.

● Technical/functional HR expertise across the broad spectrum of HR disciplines.

● Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, ability to analyse complex quantitative and qualitative data, craft possible solutions and recommend actions

● Demonstrated ability and experience advising and influencing executives, providing insights that lead to key decision making.

● Excellent communication skills (ability to communicate complex ideas in a meaningful way and across different audiences).

● Ability to build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships both within and outside the organisation.

● Ability to set goals and metrics for a team, and manage the team towards delivering those goals.

● Strong planning and organisational skills, and an ability to be able to set priorities, plan timelines and meet deadlines.

Location and Compensation

The ideal candidate will be based in Delhi and should be willing to travel, when needed.

Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy and social sector pay scales and will depend on the candidate’s experience levels
