Fortify Health is a GiveWell-funded NGO with a team of dedicated entrepreneurs working to improve nutritional iron status and reduce iron deficiency anaemia at the population scale in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, India. We aim to expand to other states in India in the next three years. We improve nutritional iron status through fortification, a recognised, effective public health intervention that involves the addition of essential micronutrients to staple foods. 

Fortify Health supports millers who are willing to adopt fortification by proactively removing industry barriers and works with state governments to adopt and expand fortification in social safety net programs (with a focus on the Public Distribution System). Position overview

The Partnerships Officer will be based out of Nashik or Thane, Fortify Health’s upcoming hub for one of our government partnership projects. They will be responsible for coordinating Fortify Health’s relationships with state and predominantly local governments in Maharashtra.  

The Partnerships Officer will have a background in public health/economics/social work and/or experience in project management, especially with government. They have the exciting opportunity to bring their own unique experience into this role, as they will be the third team member to focus solely on government relationships at Fortify Health, and will be responsible for building a strong and essential system of communication between Fortify Health and our government partners. The Partnerships Officer will report to Fortify Health’s Partnerships Manager.

Job responsibilities:

Implement existing and upcoming partnerships with the government of Maharashtra 

  • Collaborate with the Director of Government Relations and Partnerships Manager to build, coordinate, and maintain partnerships with multiple stakeholders, predominantly government at the division/district/block level in Maharashtra for our current project/s with the government
  • Coordinate with government officials of various departments in Maharashtra and other stakeholders at regular intervals to catalyse progress in existing and planned projects
  • Follow up regularly on existing partnerships and projects in progress
  • Conduct and coordinate regular monitoring visits in the field for effective implementation of  project
  • Coordinate with various teams in Fortify Health to ensure the logistics and supply chain of fortified atta in government safety net programs during the implementation of the project is as per plan
  • Highlight and work on solutions for the issues and concerns observed in the field
  • Identify opportunities for scale up of the project
  • Support training and capacity building of internal and external stakeholders with support from Fortify Health’s Partnerships Manager

Maintain effective internal communication

  • Maintain documentation of meetings and communications between government officials and Fortify Health
  • Actively participate in meetings and team calls
  • Prepare and submit monthly project report to Partnerships Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters in Public Health/nutrition/economics/Social Work or related field
  • Minimum two years of experience of working with government in health, nutrition, education or a related field 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills especially related to partnership management with government
  • Excellent documentation and time management skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in multiple projects
  • Strong ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Willingness to relocate to Nashik or Thane
  • Willingness to travel 60% of time 
  • Committed to achieving results and proven perseverance to reach goals
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and with remote team
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in English and Marathi

Terms of employment: Contract for one year, renewal by mutual agreement

Salary and benefits: INR 66780 per month
