GENERAL SUMMARY
Hasiru Dala is looking for a Children’s Program Manager to work with Buguri Children’s Program across multiple cities. The candidate will be based out of Bangalore. The program currently works in 6 locations across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh through community libraries and mobile libraries located in bastis where wastepickers live. We are looking for someone who is sensitive, self-driven, passionate about working with children in community spaces, and believes in the power of transforming lives through stories and art.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PLANNING
∙ Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve successful outcome in the program
∙ Plan the delivery of the overall Buguri Children’s Program
∙ Develop new initiatives and curriculum to strengthen the program
∙ Develop an annual budget and operating plan to support the program
∙ Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement
∙ Develop funding proposals for the program to ensure continuous operations
ORGANIZING
∙ Develop documents, reports and case studies to document program activities
∙ Develop strategies to organize children for maximum participation in the library program.
∙ Design, Organize and Coordinate for large events at different locations
STAFFTHE PROGRAM
∙ In consultation with the Executive Director, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff
∙ Establish and implement a performance management process for all program staff
∙ Engage volunteers for appropriate program activities.
LEADTHE PROGRAM
∙ Ensure Day to day running libraries across three locations.
∙ Ensure all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training
∙ Supervise program staff by providing direction, input and feedback
∙ Communicate with donors and stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program
∙ Liaison with other team members to ensure effective and efficient program delivery
∙ Coordinate within team members for different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
∙ Organize monthly meetings and trainings for the staff members
∙ Ensure documentation of the various processes within the program.
∙ Create awareness on the programs using social media.
∙ Lead the curation and procurement of books for the library program.
∙ Directly work with children in libraries for at least 4 hours a week.
FUNDING
∙ Write reports on the program for management and for funders.
∙ Ensure that the program operates within the approved budget.
∙ Ensure that all financial records for the program are up to date.
∙ Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks

DOMAIN EXPERTISE
● Strong understanding quality children’s literature and library practice ( in order to create vibrant libraries for children)

• Strong ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders
• Language – English and Kannada
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and influencing skills
REMUNERATION
Remuneration will commensurate with experience.
