About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust (IHAT) aims at improving public health initiatives by supporting programs nationally and globally through providing comprehensive technical assistance in program planning, management and monitoring. Pursuant to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the GoUP and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, IHAT set up a Technical Support Unit (TSU) in 2013 to provide techno-managerial support to the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) to improve utilization, coverage and quality of key reproductive, maternal, new-born, child health and nutrition (RMNCHN) interventions and services in the state. The TSU has been set up from the funding support of Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation (BMGF) through the University of Manitoba (UOM), Canada.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives.

Job Summary :

This position is responsible for conducting strategic and directional analysis support to achieve programmatic goals of different projects of UPTSU which includes MNCH, Nutrition, & Family Planning. The position will also lead the learning agenda of the organization in terms of translating different data and analysis into academic and non-academic publications.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Deliverables expected from the Job Role:

• Conduct data analysis to address the identified strategic questions and to generate key programmatic insights using primary data (internal concurrent monitoring survey, program monitoring data and government data (HMIS/UP-HMIS)) and secondary data sources (NFHS, AHS, DLHS etc)
• Prepare a repository of all internal and external data sources related to health and other related data
• Support in peer-reviewed scientific writing and publication agenda within the team as well as with other teams

Key Inputs expected from the Job Role:

• Formulate and identify key strategic questions in order to provide direction to the program implementation
• Triangulate different datasets such as program data, concurrent monitoring data, Govt. data, and national survey data as per the requirement of analysis
• Prepare presentations to summarize the analytical findings

Key Performance Indicators:

• Triangulate different datasets such as program data, concurrent monitoring data, Govt. data, and national survey data as per the requirement of analysis
• Conduct data analysis to generate key programmatic insights that lead programs to strengthen service delivery in RMNCH+A
• Support in peer-reviewed scientific writing and publication agenda within the team as well as with other teams
• Prepare a repository of all internal and external data sources related to health and other related data

Any other work is given by the line manager or organization from time to time

Work Experience:

Essential experience:

• More than 3 years of relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience in a similar type of work
• Experience with pre-processing of data, such as cleansing, aggregating, sorting and combing data.
• Ability to combine multiple sources of data.
• Experienced in analysing large scale data sets such as DHS/NFHS or other national-level surveys

Preferred experience:

• Experience in documentation of public health programs will be given preference

Education:

Required Qualification:

• Masters in Statistics / Demography/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Geography/Management degree/Public health and other social sciences. 

Preferred Qualification:

• Higher qualified (PhD/M Phil) candidates may be given preference.
