**Job Description: Veterinary Officer – PETA India**
**Location:** Mumbai

**Position:** Veterinary Officer
**Reports To:** Director of Veterinary Services
**Key Responsibilities:**
– Provide veterinary guidance and treatment during emergencies, including nights and weekends.
– Work closely with the Emergency Response Team on rescue operations and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
– Manage and maintain stocks of veterinary medicines and equipment, ensuring proper storage and regular quality checks.
– Maintain veterinary records and submit weekly reports.
– Conduct inspections and document animal conditions for cruelty cases, participating in law enforcement activities such as raids and rescues.
– Train veterinary assistants on emergency response, rescue, and rehabilitation skills.
– Be available for a rota that includes night and weekend work.
**Qualifications:**
– Veterinary graduate degree approved by the Veterinary Council of India.
– Prior experience in a similar role, particularly with stray animals, is preferred.
– Ability to handle high-pressure environments and multi-task effectively.
– Fluency in written and verbal Hindi and English; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.
– Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
– Compassion, responsibility, and self-motivation.
